About
Stephen Friedman – Living life to the beat of the ocean
Most people talk about passion in life but Stephen Friedman is not just talking about it, he is living it. Stephen, nicknamed Peter Pan, is an accomplished surfer; international model and his latest project is directing and producing The Blueprint TV Show.
The Media has labelled Stephen the next big thing that will come out of South Africa, why because Stephen is more than just a sought-after international model, he featured as one of COSMO’s Hottest Men Alive and was voted as Cleo Magazine’s 2nd most eligible bachelor in South Africa. He was also Mr October in the popular Cosmopolitan calendar. The list can carry on and on from all the print and TV Stephen has appeared in over the years. His latest project attests to this. The Blueprint TV Show was his brainchild whilst modelling in Cape Town when he saw a niche in the market for a series that shows the culture of places while taking the viewer on an adventure of discovery. Stephen has fine-tuned this concept and his dream will be realised when it airs on TV later this year on Fox International Networks.
Born 10 January 1986 in Johannesburg, this 27 year old has accomplished more in his time than most at his age but the love of his life remains surfing. This interest was sparked when he moved to Ballito at the age of 8 and was drawn to the sound of the ocean, the beach became his playground. Stephen started body boarding at first and when he turned 11 years old he was given a surfboard and there was no stopping him from then on.
“I’m learning every day; I strive for excellence not perfection.”
Stephen has achieved a world class status as being one of South Africa’s best surfers. He has been winning competitions since 1998 when he competed in the Atholton Primary School champs competition in Umhlanga and has since soared in the surfing world. His biggest achievement internationally was coming first in the O’Neil Surf Rumble in Europe.
After returning from a five month tour in Europe, Stephen became the face of Red Surf (Mr Price). It was no surprise that after his return to South Africa, he was snatched by the modelling industry and has appeared in major campaigns globally both for TV and print media. The rest as they say is history.
Stephen, a self-proclaimed day dreamer, is always looking for new ways to push himself and see what life has in store for him. “My love is the adventure that paints the world I choose to live in” says Stephen. This is what brought about his nickname, Peter Pan. Peter is always looking for new adventures. When Walt Disney conjured Peter Pan from his imagination, we find it replicates who Stephen Friedman is today. His passion for life is imminent in his day to day living from surfing to cooking, taking photo’s, kissing and making love, laughing, smiling, learning and day dreaming.
“I’m an individual because everyone else is taken”
Stephen found his adventure flying around the globe while travelling to beautiful unknown places. This is what he will be bringing to our screens and requests viewers to “Find your adventure” which has become the Blueprint Travel Show’s motto. The series will be 78 episodes over 3 years set to inspire audiences to discover the world and themselves.
The adventure for Stephen doesn't stop there; he has a few other shows in the pipeline which he would like to bring to fruition and plans on doing movies, writing books and publishing his photographs to name a few.
Stephen may be described as being a rebel on a roller coaster but his lifestyle is a wholesome one. Family and healthy living is big on his list of priorities. “I don’t drink alcohol or do drugs because that’s not for me. My drug is the ocean and no other substance in this world can come close to the high I get from just riding a wave” says Stephen. His favorite song is What a wonderful world by Louis Armstrong which truly represents the way he sees the world.
